ancestral Healing Services Rooted in liberation

Kennae offers decolonial healing services grounded in ancestry, embodied practice, and cultural integrity. These offerings support Black women and communities seeking transformation, clarity, and reconnection beyond colonial wellness frameworks. Services are available virtually and in-person in Charleston, South Carolina and across North Carolina, as well as through retreats and select private work.

Yoga & yoga therapy

Yoga is not solely asana (movement through postures), it is an entire healing science that addresses the 5- sheaths of human life (koshas). Yoga therapy is a culturally grounded, therapeutic yoga practice that supports nervous system regulation, embodied awareness and ancestral connection. This includes Ayurveda, herbalism, and the laying of hands in a trauma-informed, culturally grounded practice designed for Black bodies navigating stress, grief, intergenerational trauma, and chronic tension rooted in lived experience at the intersection of embodied identities.

If you are unsure if working together is right for you, exploring inquiry is always a first step.

organization & small-business

conflict, harm & repair circles

‍ ‍The way forward is through community but how do we remain in community when we cause or experience harm and conflict? Drawing lessons from The Bhagavad Gita in yoga philosophy and the parallels of healing and transformative justice, Kennae holds trainings and healing circles for organizations and small-businesses that want to build a culture of care, equity, and decolonization not only in language but written into policies and embodied as practices. This is a slow but methodical process to not only solve the immediate harm or crisis but to acknowledge and address its root causes to reduce repetition of harm again.

Ancestral healing practices

Guided ritual, ceremony, and ancestral remembrance practices rooted in African and diasporic wisdom traditions. Not all rituals and ceremonies are the same and not all experiences with plant medicine are either. These sessions support lineage healing, life transitions, and spiritual grounding including communal circles, marriage ceremonies, sitting with plant medicine, civil unions, baby, house, and land blessings.

embodied healing & liberation education

‍ ‍Healing and liberation are not linear practices with one-direction movement, both are life long commitments to living out the life you were born in this time to live. At the same time we were not meant to live lives in a constant state of needing to be healed, so where does it end? Having a guide to walk along side you can be helpful in remembering the ways or reasons of beginning self-inquiry. Here, Kennae offers an online library for Lineage Keepers discussing various topics that may support your journey including personal practice, intergenerational healing and how it informs parenting, partnerships and marriage.

Or maybe you have been doing this work for a while and might be ready to become a yoga teacher, facilitator or rooted in another type of spiritually grounded or embodied organizing support or work role. Is your role in social justice to hold the creative healing art space but not quite sure how? Rootwater Reckoning (launching in Summer 2027) is Kennae’s training institute where you can become a certified practitioner.

land-based retreats & transformative experiences

‍ ‍Land-based retreats and gatherings centered on ancestral practices, embodied care, and collective liberation allow us to ground in the natural world and recognize we are but one part of nature and do not have dominion over it. The Earth is a shared habitat between us and other living beings and ancestrally this is something we have always known. These retreat experiences are not like another retreat, set you make you feel good before returning you back into the status quo of living. No, these experiences are to gift you with a return to living slow and in right relationship with the land, no matter where you are. All of these land-based retreats are held at select locations in the Coastal Carolinas.

Kennae provides ancestral healing, Black yoga therapy, ritual, and retreat experiences in Charleston SC, Myrtle Beach SC, Raleigh NC, Durham NC, Clayton NC, and Smithfield NC.
