Ancestral and Decolonial Healing Rooted in Black Liberation

I’m Kennae, a decolonial healing guide, yoga therapist, and ritual practitioner offering ancestral healing experiences rooted in Black liberation. My work centers embodied healing, lineage remembrance, and culturally grounded practice for individuals and communities seeking transformation beyond colonial frameworks. It is rooted in ancestral remembering and embodied practices.

I also write and teach as a way of keeping ritual alive. Through yoga therapy, ritual, writing and community-based retreats, Kennae serves Black women and families in Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and throughout Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina.

A Healing Practice Grounded in Ancestry and Research

Why Decolonial Healing Matters

Decolonial healing matters because it’s about reclaiming what was taken from us—our bodies, our minds, our spirits, and our communicates. It’s the intentional practice of undoing centuries of oppression, disconnection, and cultural erasure, and stepping into the fullness of our ancestral wisdom. This work honors the voices of those who came before us, centers our own experiences, and creates space for liberation on every level-physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Decolonial healing isn’t just therapy; it’s reclamation. It reminds us that our health, our joy, and our creativity are not negotiable— they are our birthright. It matters because when we heal, we don’t just survive; we thrive. And in thriving, we rewrite the narratives that tried to define us, leaving a legacy of resilience and liberation for the generations who follow.

Kennae’s work weaves yoga therapy, ancestral ritual, somatic practice and cultural anthropology into a grounded, research-informed healing approach. Her practice honors Indigenous and African diasporic wisdom while remaining accessible, ethical and embodied in the present day.

Honoring the teachers, healers and shaman that have come before me is an important part of healing work. Although I am present to share this wisdom, much of it has crossed social identities, cultures, belief systems and various forms of subjugation to arrive as the practices they are today.
