Yoga Props: Blocks + Alternatives

Yoga props is a fun series giving us some basic knowledge on what yoga props may be available to us that can assist us in our yoga asana practice. The use of props does not necessarily make a practice accessible and it certainly does not mean that the use of props is ONLY for beginners or bodies with physical challenges or disability/ability levels. This series is Kennae’s explanation of several props she likes to use in practices and will be used throughout the practices shared here in Tha Village.

Remember the use of props is not a requirement for your yoga asana practice, as you should use what is available and easily accessible to you. Below are a few links of where you can purchase similar equipment if you desire.

Yoga blocks come made of many different types of materials, in the video Kennae uses a foam block and demonstrates the three different heights they can be used. Foam blocks are typically found in most places asana props are sold and can come weighted or not weighted. Cork blocks are typically weighted and made of cork material which can prevent sliding, a solid foundation and are typically anti-microbial in nature.
